English Springer Spaniels-Thoughts on this breed?
I am trying to find the ideal playmate for my Boxer... I have thrown a few questions on other breeds up on the board-thanks for the feedback.
What about the English Springer Spaniel- are they good with kids? Other dogs? Do they like to play?
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
I have had two English Springers, still have one now. She lives quite happily with my 8 Goldens and is wonderful with children. They are very affectionate and biddable dogs and are very loyal to their owners.
They are extremely intelligent and they do need a lot of exercise not only for their bodies but also stimulation for their minds.
One of my Springers was very much an outdoor dog, mainly due to the fact that she came from working stock. She loved to forage around the undergrowth in the woods and was actually quite independent. If she saw a rabbit you wouldn't see her heels for dust and I would have to wait for ever for her to return to me, whereas the other one is very domesticated and sticks to me like velcro. Both very appealing dogs. The first one was 14 y.o. when she died but the other one is still going strong at 13 y.o. and is still very active. They both loved to play as puppies and when they were young but seemed to become more aloof as they became older ladies and were just happy to be petted and loved then.
Hope you find the right playmate for your Boxer. I don't think you'd go far wrong with a Springer.
