Party themes for girls' beading/craft parties?
I am planning to start doing beading parties for girls (ages 5 to teens) and looking for theme ideas. I personally would love to do tea party/teddy bear picnic themes and make little cupcake and dessert beads from polymer clay to put on necklaces and bracelets, but I'd like some more versatile ideas. Other themes I've thought of are flowers, fairies, stars, dance, music, art, sports. I handmake beads, but buy them from stores as well, so I am just looking for themes that are popular with girls in different age ranges. Movie/tv characters? Fantasy?
I work with kids but their tastes are so diverse. I am wondering what might rank as the most popular. Examples like Littlest Pet Shop, Hannah Montana, Curious George, Disney Princess, etc etc. Any feedback is appreciated!
Ok well, from about 5 to 10 year olds will like Curious George, Disney princesses, Littlest Pet Shops etc. But my guess is that if you would like something unique don't go for the brand things. Make beads that are more generic. It sounds bad, but trying to get a bead that looks like Hannah Montana is going to be hard and kids may not like the final product. Fairies are always good for girls, also beads that resemble jewels will be good as little girls like to play dress up. For older girls, darker coloured plain beads are good. Think wooden beads and the rebel hippy type of jewelry that they seem to like. Also beads in the shape of guitar picks are cool for the older ones, for some reason they seem to think themselves more rebel with those on. I wish you luck and hope this has helped!
