Do cranial molding helmets work?
My 4 month old was fitted for an orthopedic molding helmet on Tuesday for deformation plagiocephaly, and has been wearing it per the break in schedule building up to 23 hours per day from the 8th day on. He seems to be adjusting to it quite well. We are told he will probably be wearing it for 4-6 months. Does anyone have experience with these helmets?
Thank you for the in-sight, it breaks my heart to see it on him, but he just smiles away like he could care less. I didn't notice the deformation, but the dr recommended this, to fix some "flat spots" as he called them.
My son is at a daycare that another infant who had to have one these is at. The boy just got his off and WOW, what a difference! All I can say is that it will work. He was supposed to wear it for 6 months, he got it off in four. He got used to it real quick and it sure did not slow him down! He was such a darling little thing before and now, he just so precious! Don't worry, it bothers you much more than your child!
