Post not arrived? Postal Strike? (UK to Canada)?

I recently posted a parcel to Alberta, Canada from my local Post Office as it was my friends birthday. In the parcel was a small glass ornamental plaque, a card and a letter. Now, I'm a bit concerned as the parcel hasn't arrived yet and it's been just over two weeks. Her birthday was on the 21st July, and i sent it on 12th July. I've also heard about the Canada postal strike and i wonder if this will come into play.
How long does it usually take for it to arrive (First Class, AirMail) and proving the address is correct, if it is caught in customs, will it still be on it's way?

First class air mail usually takes about 1 - 2weeks (i am an ebay trader so have some experience) however the customs dept in canada have more rules than anywhere else - did you put a customs declaration on the parcel? did you also put the return address on the parcel? this last point is very important as they will not release the parcel unless it has a return address.
