What is a good cleaner for a plastic shower mat?
I have a shower mat that is made out of plastic material. After being used in the shower for some time, it has naturally gotten dirty. I have used several cleaners (ie - Tilex Mold and Mildew, Lysol, Comet), but none have been useful. Any suggestions, other than buying a new mat?
I have two ways I clean these. One is the bathroom cleaner Kaboom! sprayed on both sides. (It drips, so I use that to clean the tub where my plastic mat is used.) That removes soap scum very well but doesn't get all the mold, mineral deposits, and slime, although due diligence with an old toothbrush and Kaboom! will.
Easier, though, is throwing it into the wash, making sure it's jumbled among the clothes so it can't stick to itself with the suction cups. I put mine into the whites load, with hot water and bleach, although that temperature's warped one plastic mat beyond usability. (Most survive it just fine.) They come out looking new, literally.
Do not put it in the dryer.
