Is it feasible for me to grow beefsteak variety tomatoes in a pot?
The specific variety is German Queen and the pots are square about a foot and a half, by a foot and a half.
Yes you can grow anything in a pot if it's big enough to contain the root system. You will have to stake them or cage them because they are large plants with large fruit.
If the plant gets too high, the wind can knock it over if the base of the pot is not wide enough.
Another thing to consider is how long your growing season is. Cherry tomatoes mature very quickly because they are small. Beefsteak tomatoes take a long time to reach maturity because of their size.
I prefer to grow small size tomato plants in containers rather than the large ones because they don't require staking. Tiny Tim or Balcony charm are a good size plant for containers.
